SUSTAINABILITY

OUR IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT

We started the conversation on cannabis and now it’s time we all talk about reducing our environmental impact. Organically grown hemp is an inherently sustainable agriculture commodity. Hemp is less water-intensive than most crops, generally requires no pesticides, and serves as a natural air purifier. The hemp plant absorbs CO2 even more efficiently than trees. But we can still do better. Canna Companion is making conscious strides in sustainable packaging, shipping, recycling, and more.

Our Planet and Sustainable Materials

We started the conversation on cannabis and now it’s time we all talk about reducing our environmental impact. Canna Companion is making strides in sustainable packaging, shipping, recycling, and more.

We care about our planet and our impact. That’s why we use glass bottles for packaging all capsule and oil products. They are 100% recyclable and sustainable, and even better for our products than plastic.

  • We use 100% post-consumer recycled cardboard boxes for shipping, no matter the size. Even our labels are thermally printed, which reduces non-recyclable waste and by-products.
  • Since 2020 we have recycled over 450 lb of company-issued PPE, packaging materials and hard-to-recycle personal items (misc. plastic wastes especially).
  • We encourage our employees to bring their recycling to the manufacturing facility, to spread the impact from business into homes.
  • Our manufacturing facility utilizes rechargeable batteries, and a 100% electric forklift.
  • All paper used in our facility is 100% recycled, non-tree based, and carbon neutral.

Our People and HR Practices

We believe in maintaining a company culture of good environmental practices, employee health and safety. We are leading the way for our employees with advanced HR practices, extensive environmental monitoring and by promoting healthy personal habits.

Canna Companion is dedicated to progressive HR practices and treating our employees right. That’s why we offer paid parental leave, a living minimum wage, and generous paid time off among other competitive benefits.

We prioritize job safety by ensuring excellent air quality, appropriate humidity, and regulated temperature in our warehouse. This strict environmental control benefits both our products and our employees.

We encourage our employees to be creative and find better ways to do things, as long as they adhere to our NASC Seal standards.

Our Partnerships in Sustainability

We know how important it is for our whole community to work together towards sustainable practices, that’s why we partner with industry-leading organizations and require our suppliers to uphold similar practices.

Right now we’re focused on partnering with like-minded companies and companies striving to increase their sustainable pet product lines. In the near future (by Jan. 2025) we anticipate receiving our B Corp certification.
